We would like to help take the stress out of your move by pointing out some of the common things overlooked during removals with the following checklist.
1 Month Before Moving
Confirm details with your solicitor re exchanging contracts and moving dates.
Confirm all of the arrangements with RJS Removals
Start packing non-essentials and clear out areas like the loft, shed’s and garages.
Order furniture and fittings for your new home.
2 Weeks Before Moving
If you take regular medication, make sure you have ordered supplies to be collected before you move.
Think about arranging child or pet care for moving day
Book any services you may need such as a plumber to un-install kitchen appliances or cleaners to clean your house once empty.
Start running down supplies in your freezer and fridge. These items need to be completely empty, defrosted and dry before we can move them.
Moving Day!
It’s your final morning in your old home. We’ll be there at the agreed time either ready to start packing up all of your belongings or to start loading the items you’ve already packed.
It’s now time to move to your new home!
Strip the beds and pack up the last of your things ready for the move.
Pack a special box with things like tea and coffee making equipment as well as some tools ready for any assembly jobs at the new home. Make sure it’s clearly labelled and is the last in (1st out).
Record all of the utility meter readings at your old home and when you get to your new one.
Leave all of the keys to your old home in an easy to find place such as the kitchen.
Make sure we have your mobile phone numbers just in case we need to get in touch on the day.
Check that all of the windows and doors are locked and secure before leaving the house.
Clearly label any boxes to go in the car with you and make sure they don’t accidentally get loaded in the removal lorry.

We'll arrange a convenient date and time to pop round and chat through your move with you. We'll have a look around and provide you with an estimate of costs. If you haven't got your date yet, we can still give you an idea of costs based on your property size and the type of service you are looking for.

Schedule Your Move
On the day of the move we'll be there, on time, ready to carefully pack your items or, if you're packing yourself, ready to load your belongings ready for the journey to your new home.
Will you pack everything for me?
We can do. Our staff are experts in carefully packing peoples belongings to ensure they arrive at their destination in the same condition they left.
Can I pack my own belongings?
Off course you can! But do remember, we do this on a professional basis and can often pack an entire house faster than most people can pack a single room! Plus, if we pack for you then all of the items are insured as well.
Will it all fit in your van?
An often asked question. Yes it will. When we come round to give you your estimate, we will have worked out how many vehicles we will need to transport your belongings safely.
Will you unload it all to the correct rooms at the destination?
Yes. As long as all of your boxes and items are labelled with the correct rooms for the new property, that's where they will end up. If you've booked our packing and unpacking service, then it will all be unpacked in the right rooms as well.
I've not heard of you before?
Well, we've been trading since 2011 and have over 25 years experience int the removals industry. We might be a small, local business, but we can often include our full packing service for less than the cost of just removals from the larger companies.
